All Florida drivers must have car insurance. Drivers rely on Florida’s insurance system to provide fast and fair payments for people who are hurt when an accident occurs. Even though insurance exists so people can receive hassle-free payments after a car accident, the insurance companies don’t always honor the terms of their policies.
In a perfect world where all parties are willing to take responsibility for their actions, a car accident claim would be pretty straight forward. A Florida police officer with 14 years of experience in the Fort Lauderdale sheriff’s office is facing a manslaughter charge for the fatal killing of a man who was carrying what turned out to be an air rifle. Peter Peraza, who is 37 and white, pleaded not guilty to the charge of shooting Jermaine McBean, age 33 and black, in July 2013. His family attorney said he probably did not hear the command to drop the weapon because he was listening to music. Two other deputies at the site drew their weapons but did not fire.
Tampa can be a great place to live and work. But just like any other location, it can be dangerous to travel around the city. Tampa in particular has a few location-specific dangers that are worth paying attention to and considering before you set out on the streets. These include (1) a lack of public transportation, (2) a high proportion of elderly residents, and (3) locals who are sometimes known for erratic driving. While Tampa is not as likely as Miami to be home to reckless drivers and more car accidents, it’s still a somewhat dangerous place to drive.
